Minister for National Development, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, recently unveiled the preliminary plans for Woodlands Regional Centre (“WRC”), tagline “Your Vision for the North”.
The Woodlands Regional Centre will be a key component in reshaping northern Singapore and is expected to become a major commercial hub in the north as an alternative location for businesses outside the city centre.
As part of the new North Coast Innovation Corridor, WRC will stretch from the north coast fronting the Straits of Johor into Woodlands Central. It consists of two distinct precincts – Woodlands North Coast and Woodlands Central – and will offer approximately 100 hectares of land for development.
With its proximity to the causeway and northern shoreline, WRC is envisioned as a new waterfront destination, lifestyle hub and key commercial cluster in the North Region.
Woodlands Regional Centre will also become more accessible in the near future, served by 4 MRT Stations. Besides the existing North-South MRT line, two new MRT stations will be added in the area when the Thomson Line is completed by 2019.
The future North South Expressway will also connect Woodlands, Sembawang, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Toa Payoh with the city centre. A planned future rail link to Johor will enhance connectivity to and from Malaysia.
MIT’s property cluster, Woodlands Central (WLC) at 33 & 35 Marsiling Industrial Estate Road 3, is strategically located right next to the new and upcoming WRC and is an ideal location for businesses to tap on this new growth corridor. Situated within a short 5-minute walk to Woodlands MRT Station and Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange, the cluster is conveniently located near amenities at Causeway Point Shopping Mall and Woodlands Civic Centre nearby.
